
Since 1993, the Little Colorado River RC&D has worked to develop in an appropriatemanner the heritage resources of the region. Through the Heritage Action Team, a group ofcitizens from eight communities formulated the concept of the "Trail of ManyTracks", a heritage auto touring route, designed to be linked with heritagetourismeffort for the four corners region. "The Trail of Many Tracks" is a projectdesigned to help increase the economic base in east central Arizona by bringing additionaltourism and producing jobs in the effected communities. The enticement of visitors to thisrichly historical area can improve the economy for lodging, restaurants, amusement, andretail jobs as well as raising the awareness of the local people of the rich heritage thatthey have.
"The Trail of Many Tracks" will take you on an exciting drive backthrough time, encountering the histories of pre-dinosaur, dinosaur, and post-dinosaurgeology; Ancient People; Spanish Explorers; Mexican and Mormon settlers, sheep and cattleranching; Outlaws; Native American Tribes; the adventurous Route 66; on up to thefast-pace life of the present - thus the name: "Trail of Many Tracks". Therewill be a multitude of stops along the way that will share the history and adventure ofthe trail.
