Watershed Coordinator

Little Colorado River Watershed Project

The watershed coordinator provides staff assistance to the Little Colorado RiverWatershed Project Coordinating Team in developing a watershed plan and other activities asassigned. The watershed coordinator works effectively with individual groups and units ofgovernment in order to develop and implement Little Colorado River Watershed Program.Responsible to develop and oversee the implement community outreach efforts related towatershed planning. Initiates a strong public information and education program. Requiresprofessional knowledge of a full range of concepts including community or regionalplanning, community development, environmental enhancement and social issues to prepare,appraise, analyze, evaluate and implement project plans. This position is located atHolbrook, Arizona. The incumbent salary is $31,000 per year. Source of funds comes fromthe Council’s ability to receive grants. The incumbent is a full time employeedepending upon grant funds. The incumbent would be expected to be available by January2000.

Knowledge Skills and Ability Required by the Position

Ability to work effectively with individual groups and units of government in order to develop and implement the Little Colorado River Watershed Program Plan. Works well in teams with individuals of diverse backgrounds to complete projects.

Professional knowledge of a full range of concepts including community based planning, resource planning on a watershed scale, community development, environmental enhancement and social issues to prepare, appraise, analyze, evaluate and implement project plans. Disciplines include: natural resources management, social sciences, community and regional planning, business administration, planning and other related fields. A Bachelor degree with three years experience is required.

Knowledge and skill in oral and written communication methods, techniques and procedures to present technical material, proposals, letters, newsletters and other mediums to the Council, sponsors and funders.

Knowledge and ability to use Microsoft word, internet, database and spreadsheet. Ability to learn new programs.

Sensitive to diverse multi-cultures and their needs. Uses tact and diplomacy to achieve objectives. Ability to implement Councils programs and services without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age or handicap.
